3 Reasons to Join a Small Business Directory

There are numerous reasons to join your local small business association, especially if you’re starting your own business. It’s a purely win-win situation, and I’ve outlined the top three reasons that will benefit both you and your community:

1. Networking
Small business associations provide networking opportunities. Members are encouraged to participate in mixers, educational seminars, workshops, holiday parties, and social events, which will help you to build relationships, get ideas, and promote your mission.

The DBA is Coachella Valley's LGBT Business Association, a worthy cause and a great organization.

2. New Clients
Once relationships are formed and you’ve become a familiar face, you will seamlessly generate new clients who believe in you and your business. And never underestimate the power of word-of-mouth!

Joining the PSHA allowed me the opportunity to network and find leads.

3. Business Directory
Members of small business associations get the benefit of being listed in their business directory. That directory serves as a direct and credible reference point for new, existing, and visiting members of the community.

The Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce hosts monthly events and publishes a great local guide

Many small business associations work with local charitable organizations or are 501c3s themselves, which serve the community as whole by promoting positivity, inclusivity, and goodwill. And your participation on a committee or as a diplomat is a great way for you to give back to your community by sharing your skills with charitable organizations who can benefit from your expertise.

When building your budget, consider devoting a few hundred dollars a year towards local business organizations like these, or if that's outside your means just signup for their newsletter and attend mixers with friends already in the organization, you might just find it will be worth your money.

That's the situation I was in a month ago when I was afraid of losing my job and fed up with working for people that put profit before people and the planet. So I started Uncommon Fruit, a small/sustainable business incubator and am making it my mission to help my friends and family, which includes you, start their own sustainable small business and support their communities. The only thing I as in return for this information is that the business you start takes care of you, takes care of your employees, takes care of your customers and takes care of the planet.  Then, create a business plan here… with a company called Live Plan or on your own, but I’ll tell you, Live Plan basically writes the plan for you. It’s like a business plan Mad-Lib. Register all of...
